Simon was born in Dorking and grew up in Horsham, his father was from South London and mother from East London.
In his first serious Job he trained at Brunel House on the Hard in Portsmouth to administer TOPS courses at Chichester College for the Department of Employment.
He later joined Phillips Petroleum the American Oil company in London and relocated with them to Woking where he had a long career in records management and then IT including the lead role in rolling out Windows 95 including Offshore in the North Sea as well as leading on Mobile Phones and personal Laptops.
He later worked in the pioneering Notschool.net project with teenagers educated other than at school on the Internet and taught ICT at Technical College in Surrey.
He trained as a Home Inspector, Energy Assessor, and Green Deal adviser surveying in the Solent area for External Wall Insulation as well as Solar and Heat Pump installations.
He came to live in Gosport in 2015 and has continued to work mostly in Property Inspection and Inventory work. He has also worked casually for many years in Events and Security holding up to four simultaneous jobs from Driving to Site Access Control in Railway Engineering Projects.
Simon was married in London and now has three grown-up Children.
He gained a BA in Politics Philosophy and History from Birkbeck College, UCL.
He won a Man in The Community award in Woking for his voluntary role in getting the Woking YMCA restarted and the establishment of a music and entertainment venue in the Town Centre.
In 2006 he was elected Councillor in Woking and retained his seat with almost 50% more votes in 2010. He was a portfolio holder for Housing and Property Services on the Executive Committee. He was the first Councillor Director of Woking Borough Homes now ThamesWey Housing. He later Chaired a housing Scheme for 390 Houses now built out as Kingsmoor Park in Westfield.
He was School Governor and Chairman of resources at Westfield Junior School. He was one of the original few people who campaigned for the establishment of the Hoe Valley School in Woking.
His main sporting hobbies have been Football and running, he represented Woking at Cross Country and track, 1500, 5000, and Steeple Chase. He played football at the Park and Sunday levels. He comes from a family of four generations of fiercely loyal Charlton supporters and has followed Horsham, Tooting Mitcham, Woking and now Gosport in Non-League football and you will find him watching Fleetlands which he considers to be football in the best spirit of the game.
He also loves History and would like to make some in Gosport! He is in his element living in The Royal Clarence Yard and Gosport and says it is a unique and special place to be.
