Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has praised the work of the Gosport Town Team during a debate in Westminster this week.
Speaking about the importance of independent retailers to our high streets, Caroline commended the local Town Team's Empty Unit Support Scheme which helps new businesses to locate in empty premises on Gosport High Street. So far, two businesses have already set up shop thanks to the financial grant and business advice offered by the scheme.
Speaking after the debate, Caroline commented:
"Independent shops hold the key to rejuvenating our town centres and revitalising community spirit. I am proud that the Gosport Town Team is coming up with imaginative ways to breathe a new lease of life into our high street.
The Empty Unit Support Scheme also offers invaluable help to fledgling businesses who may otherwise not be able to access sites in prime town centre locations.
I am always eager to promote the wonderful work being done in Gosport and this week's debate was a great opportunity to sing the praises of our local Town Team."
Caroline has long been committed to securing the prosperity of Gosport town centre and helped to secure £110,000 of Government funding for the Town Team which was set up in 2012.
