Professor Baker's report presents an audit of the care at the Gosport hospital and looks into the deaths of a number of elderly patients in the 1990s. The report was commissioned in 2002 but subsequent police investigations and inquests into 11 of the deaths have prevented it from being made public until now.
Speaking after the report's release, Caroline said:
"I am pleased that after 10 years of waiting, the families of elderly patients who died at Gosport War Memorial Hospital can finally learn the contents of Professor Baker's report.
For the families involved, this has been a long and hard journey.
I have always called for openness & transparency in this case, the families deserved nothing less - I hope that the release of this report goes some way towards achieving that."
Since her election, Caroline has called for families to have free and ready access to the information in Professor Baker's report. She has frequently written to Ministers calling for the report to be published at the earliest opportunity and has been in contact with some of the families concerned.
