Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has given her support to the swift implementation of the Prostate Cancer UK Quality Checklist, at an event in Westminster last week.
New research has revealed considerable variations in the care that men with prostate cancer receive across the UK. In a bid to help stamp out these inequalities, Prostate Cancer UK has produced a Quality Checklist which sets out 15 national standards for care and support which should be used as a best practice guide for men and clinicians.
Speaking after the event, Caroline said:
"Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and it is appalling that patients face a postcode lottery on their paths to treatment. We must do everything we can to ensure that all men with this condition get the care and support they need.
I am delighted to support Prostate Cancer UK's Quality Checklist and I hope it is adopted in the Gosport area as soon as possible."
The charity is working closely with men and their families, healthcare providers, politicians and health professionals to ensure that the checklist is adopted and implemented throughout the UK.
