Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage was delighted to visit the thriving Daring 2012 Club for adults with learning difficulties, as she joined the group to celebrate their first birthday today.
Founded by Mary Claridge and grandson Ryan, the Club lays on lunch, karaoke and a host of other activities. Since opening its doors last year, the group has flourished and monthly meetings now attract over 100 people, with members coming from as far afield as Hayling Island and the Isle of Wight.
Speaking after the meeting, Caroline said:
"I always enjoy my visits to the Daring 2012 Club and am honoured to be their Patron; I was last here in September and am delighted to see how this fantastic group has progressed in just twelve months.
The Club is such an important and valued resource for adults with learning difficulties in our area. Its success is a testament to the hard work of the amazing volunteers that keep the Club going from strength to strength and I can't remember having this much fun on a Monday morning for a long time!"
The Daring 2012 Club meets every second Monday of the month between 11am-3pm. It's based at the Royal Naval Association Club on Fareham Road, Gosport, and is open to all adults with learning disabilities.
