Lee-on-the-Solent taxi driver, Andy Orr, has been celebrated in the Parliamentary Taxi and Private Hire Awards 2023.
Dame Caroline Dinenage, Member of Parliament for Gosport, recently held a competition online to seek out the Gosport constituency’s nomination. Andy was presented with an award at a ceremony in Parliament to celebrate taxi and private hire drivers from across the country who have gone above and beyond for local people.
The awards, organised by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Taxis, were launched several years ago. They aim to bring the industry, which employs more people than any other form of public transport, together and celebrate cabbies who make a difference in people’s lives, in their local community, or for their sector.
This is the second time that Andy Orr, from Taxi Lee-on-the-Solent, has been nominated for the award.
Speaking after the award ceremony, Caroline said:
“It’s fantastic to see Andy and his family again at the Parliamentary Taxi & Private Hire Awards. He is clearly very valued by his customers, and this is a great way to say thank you for providing excellent service.
