In Parliamentary Questions to Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Ministers, Dame Caroline Dinenage, MP for Gosport, asked what further support the UK Government can give to help Ukrainian refugees fleeing into Ukraine’s neighbouring countries such as Hungary, Romania and Moldova.
Caroline asked:
“The Foreign Secretary has spoken about the work on to help refugees coming over the border to Poland, but we also know people are flooding over the borders into Romania, into Hungary, into Moldova and into other neighbouring countries. What more can we do on the ground in those countries to help swiftly get people to our shores.”
Rt Hon James Cleverly MP, Minister of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office responded saying:
“The Honourable Lady makes a very important point, the Home Office have established a presence in Poland but also in the other countries bordering Ukraine to facilitate the forward passage of those wishing to come to the UK. The Prime Minister and the Home Secretary have made clear that we intend to have a generous offer to the Ukrainian people, a refuge for those seeking that and we will continuing working with the Home Office in their work to establish routes to the UK.
