Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, is joining Guy Opperman MP’s ’10 for 10’ challenge to raise money for local charity Gosport Voluntary Action.
10 years ago this month, Member of Parliament for Hexham, Guy Opperman, was rushed to St Thomas Hospital in London and diagnosed with a brain tumour. This year he has launched his ’10 for 10’ challenge, encouraging people to set their own challenge, whether it is running 10km, walking 10,000 steps or baking 10 cakes, to raise money for local and national charities.
Caroline and her team have signed up this month and next to walk 10,000 steps on 10 different days to fundraise for Gosport Voluntary Action, who support residents across the Gosport Constituency through various organisations from Loud and Proud, for young people aged 16-25, to befriending services for elderly residents. Over the course of the pandemic, they have been providing vital support from helping those isolating with their shopping to collecting prescriptions.
Caroline commented:
“My team and I are excited this year to take part in the 10 for 10 challenge to raise money for Gosport Voluntary Action, who work around the clock to support residents young and old in the Gosport Constituency.
“The pandemic has shown just how vital our local organisations are and I encourage residents across Gosport, Hill Head, Stubbington and Lee-on-the-Solent to join me or start their own 10 for 10 challenge for a cause close to their heart.”
