Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, hosted an exporting webinar for businesses in her constituency on Friday with experts from the Department for International Trade.
Since her election, Caroline has been extremely passionate about creating opportunities in the local area. 90% of global economic growth in the next 10 to 15 years is expected to be generated outside the EU, and the Government wants to make sure businesses are best placed to begin and grow exporting to countries around the world. Caroline has met with Trade Ministers and the Secretary of State for International Trade on several occasions this year to discuss these opportunities.
Joining Caroline and businesses from the Gosport Constituency and across the South East were a plethora of trading experts from DIT and UK Export Finance (UKEF), as well as local exporting champion Martin Stemp of RS Aqua. The webinar successfully highlighted the many positives of exporting and energised local businesses to find out more.
Commenting, Caroline said:
“This event showcased the benefits of exporting to the fullest and I’m enormously grateful to businesses in Gosport and our trade experts for coming along.
“With 90% of global economic growth in the next 10 to 15 years expected to be generated outside the EU, we want to see businesses best placed to make the most of this. Although I understand exporting jobs account for around 11% of total employment in the Gosport Constituency, we want to boost opportunities and see that go even further!”
Commenting on Friday, Ben Raby, Head of Trade for the South East region said:
“Many thanks to Caroline Dinenage MP for Gosport for chairing today’s Parliamentary Export Programme event. It was great that so many Gosport and Solent based businesses were able to join the session to hear about the support available from the Department for International Trade (DIT) and UK Export Finance and listen to Martin Stemp from RS Aqua, one of DIT’s regional Export Champions, share their exporting experiences”.
