Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has welcomed the news that super-fast broadband is coming to Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington.
The two communities are among seven set to benefit from BT's ambitious plans to expand its super-fast broadband network in Hampshire during 2013. The local MP hailed the developed as a huge boost for businesses and homes across the area. She commented that:
"This massive investment is fantastic news for local families and businesses. With super-fast broadband estimated to add £143 million to a single town's economy, it's clear that this will help us on the road to economic recovery and growth in Stubbington and Lee-on-the-Solent".
The Gosport MP has particularly welcomed BT's decision to extend super-fast broadband to the Daedalus Enterprise Zone, after lobbying the Government and the company to secure this. She said:
"Super-fast broadband opens up a whole new world for businesses, and it is essential to attracting the advanced manufacturing industries we want in the Enterprise Zone. Through BT's investment, we'll show that our area is well and truly open for business, and secure our future as a hub of advanced manufacturing technologies".
Once rolled-out across the area, families and business will enjoy the fastest upload speeds available to consumers in the UK, with large video and data files being sent almost instantly and hi-resolution photos posted online in seconds. High quality voice and video calls will also allow local businesses to keep in touch with customers while cutting down on travel.
