Local MP, Caroline Dinenage is celebrating Love Parks Week which encourages everyone to go outside into the great outdoors and enjoy your local park.
Since 1954, Love Parks Week has been working hard fulfil its cause of improving local spaces, cutting litter, ending waste and educating future generations by celebrating Britain’s greenery. You can support Love Parks Week’s cause by ensuring you dispose of any litter appropriately, pick up any litter left in a green space and recycle when possible.
Caroline Dinenage MP commented:
“Parks, green spaces and beaches provide our community with a gateway to the great outdoors and help make our area a beautiful place to live and work.
Ensuring that we recycle and keep harmful litter away from our parks and beaches is essential in maintaining healthy green spaces for everyone to enjoy. I look forward to getting outdoors this week to enjoy the great local green spaces.”
In celebration of the UK’s parks and green spaces the Government has provided £1.2 million for the Future Parks Accelerator, a £10 million-pound joint project between MHCLG, the National Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund to test new and innovative approaches to managing and funding parks; that will ensure the benefits of public spaces are enjoyed by generations to come.
Minister for Local Government, Rishi Sunak said:
“Parks and green spaces should be celebrated throughout the year but, because they are so important, Keep Britain Tidy take one week a year, every year, to really recognise them.
In the last two years, the Government has spent £15 million on parks and green spaces. We have also provided grants, totalling £9.7 million, to every local authority across England to help them renovate and develop their parks so that they can continue to be enjoyed by communities.
As Minister for Parks and Green Spaces, I am very proud to take this opportunity to celebrate all that parks have to offer.”
