It was hugely disappointing to see that the Stokes Bay Splash Park was not open over the early Bank Holiday weekend - especially given the unseasonably good weather.
I have spoken with the Head of Streetscene at Gosport Borough Council about this and he has confirmed the following:
The Splash Park underwent pre-seasonal maintenance with the intent of opening for use on 27 April.
However, without warning, the multisensor unit which controls the chemical dosing failed which meant the Park could not used.
Despite strenuous efforts with the supplier, the Council has been unable to obtain a replacement unit from the licensed supplier in time for the Bank Holiday weekend.
The supplier has now confirmed that they hope to be able to provide a replacement unit this Monday and that the specialist technician should be able to fit the unit next week. The Park should be able to re-open shortly thereafter.
The Council very much regrets the delay in the opening of the Splash Park and will be looking at ways to reduce the risk of this happening again.
I have also asked that they provide updated advice on the GBC website and at the Splash Park itself.
