Local MP Caroline Dinenage will celebrate Parliament Week with a student debate and Q&A session at Bay House School on Friday.
Parliament Week is a programme of events and activities that connect people across the UK with Parliament and democracy. The annual initiative kicked off yesterday, running until Sunday 22nd November and is co-ordinated by the House of Commons with support from the House of Lords.
Caroline will play the role of Speaker, while Bay House School students take part in a lively debate & Parliament-style vote on the subject of "a Living Wage for those aged 16 and over". She will then have a question and answer session with pupils about her day-to-day life as the Member of Parliament for Gosport.
Speaking before the visit, Caroline said:
"It is vital to engage young people with politics and Parliament Week is a great initiative to get them involved. I always enjoy hearing from young people in our area about the issues they are most passionate about.
I am looking forward to meeting the students and listening to their opinions on a topic which is very big issue in Parliament at the moment."
