Roadworks for the completion of Phase 1 of the Eclipse Busway will affect traffic using Rowner Road between the 30th September and the 25th October 2019.
The traffic travelling over Rowner Road bridge will be reduced to one lane between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 with flow over the bridge being controlled by traffic lights during this period.
The pedestrian crossing in the vicinity will be out of service, with a temporary crossing being provided for the full duration of the works.
This is advance preparation work for the completion of Phase 1 of the Eclipse Busway and is being undertaken ahead of the main construction programme, currently planned to commence in 2020.
The above timescales are weather dependent and any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow boards located at the works limits.
This £11.6 million major improvement scheme will complete the remaining first phase of the busway between Tichborne Way and Rowner Road, Gosport and help improve journey times and connectivity across the Gosport peninsula.
Ward Councillor Marcus Murphy said: "I am really pleased that Hampshire have amended their plans so that Rowner Road will not be closed for 14 weeks.
Although road works will still affect residents, the impact should not be so great and I look forward to seeing Phase 1 of the Eclipse Busway finished."
