Last night, Gosport Conservative Party Policy Forum attendees called for reform of management tiers in the NHS before extra cash is thrown in by central Government.
The Forum subject was Health and Social Care and asked people to discuss meeting the challenges associated with this subject. As well as discussing NHS Management, the possibility of charging for missed GP appointments was also raised.
Local MP and Minister of State for Care, Caroline Dinenage attended the forum to hear the views of local people. She spoke to the Forum about the unique position of Gosport, with its problems of recruiting GP’s to the area, access to GP surgeries, and of course the distance from QA hospital.
Chairman of the Forum, David Gary said:
“Members of the public are always welcome to our policy meetings regardless of whether they are a member of the Conservative Party, or even whether they support other parties. It’s about getting new ideas, working them through and reporting to the appropriate minister
The meeting felt that it may also be the case that the country needs to look at what the NHS actually does, and perhaps refine its remit in future years.”
