Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, is asking local businesses who are signing up to the Eat Out To Help Out Scheme to contact her if they would like to be included in her new, dedicated webpage.
Caroline is setting up a new webpage to help residents know where they can dine for less, Monday to Wednesday, and promote local businesses that have signed up to the scheme.
The Eat Out To Help Out Scheme will offer 50% off the bill of food establishments, up to £10 a head, Monday to Wednesday throughout August to be claimed back from the Government. The aim is to encourage residents to support local restaurants, pubs and cafes who have been hardest hit by the pandemic, by offering a discount on their bill.
Businesses can now sign up to the scheme and will see the claimed funds back into their bank account within 5 days.
Caroline is working to help support businesses who have been financially impacted by the pandemic. Many businesses have contacted her with their concerns and from the outset, she promoted local food providers who were doing special takeaway or delivery services as they shut their doors to customers. From helping constituents access loans who contact her, to hosting a business roundtable and digital marketing training with Google, she is looking for new ways to support local retailers and kickstart the economy.
She commented:
“It has been hard seeing the shops and restaurants shut up over recent months, knowing what a real impact this will be having on my constituents and our local economy.
“While it was necessary to stop the spread of Covid-19 and protect our community, it is time to start opening up our retailers and restaurants again.
“Customers are understandably cautious, but I hope this scheme will see them supporting our locals again throughout August. I encourage all businesses signing up to contact me so that we can promote their services and encourage residents to make use of this fantastic opportunity.”
