Local MP for Gosport, Caroline Dinenage has backed the joint Consumer Focus/Citizens Advice Bureau campaign aiming to help advise people who are falling behind with their energy bills.
With temperatures starting to plummet, vulnerable groups from across Gosport will struggle to keep their home warm this winter.
Caroline said: “Thousands of vulnerable people within my constituency are at real risk of falling in to debt so this is a very timely campaign.”
Recent figures show that new cases of household energy debts nationwide have increased by 20% and many more people will be pushed into debt to their energy supplier this winter.
Caroline added, “With this in mind, the ‘Plug the Debt’ campaign has been launched to promote energy awareness. I fully support their efforts and would encourage people to find out what levels of support are available to them.”
