"The online world is rapidly changing so being able to keep up to date with your children's use of technology can be a challenge." Caroline Dinenage
Caroline Dinenage MP, is hosting the first Cyber Safety event in the Gosport Constituency to help members of the public to be confident with digital parenting.
The free event takes place at Brune Park in Gosport from 6.30- 7.30pm on Thursday 7 February, as part of Internet Safety Day, and will feature useful help and advice from Hampshire Constabulary and Parent Zone.
Speaking ahead of the event, Caroline said:
"The online world is a fantastic place for young people to learn, create and express themselves, however it can also present serious risks to our children. And not all parents are as tech-savvy to the dangers as we would want to be!
My Cyber Safety Event will give mums, dad's and guardians the opportunity to learn how to protect their children online with guidance and advice from Parent Zone and Hampshire Police."
Ollie Barron, Family Support Worker at Parent Zone said:
"Our aim at Parent Zone is to help improve outcomes for children in a digital world so that they can make the most of the incredible opportunities that the internet offers.
In my sessions, I try to help parents feel more confident about their children's use of the internet. We provide them with simple, evidence-based strategies to help them raise resilient children - able to stay safer online and recover when things go wrong."
The event is free but booking is required via https://bit.ly/2Kizizi.
