Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, met with the new District Police Commander for Gosport on Friday.
Caroline met with the Chief Inspector Mark Lewis to discuss recent policing and crime issues in the Constituency, including the recent rise in bike thefts.
Chief Inspector Lewis updated Caroline on Hampshire Constabulary's plans to combat criminal activity in Gosport and stated his commitment to work in partnership to tackle crime, including violent crime to make Gosport safer. Chief Inspector Lewis said that he understood the impact this can have on the victims and the wider community.
Speaking after the meeting, Caroline said:
“It was great to meet with Chief Inspector Lewis to maintain strong links with the Police and find out what I can do to support them to keep Gosport constituents safe.
It was encouraging to hear the plans and ideas that Hampshire Constabulary are using in the Gosport area to help tackle crime.”

“It was a really productive and informative meeting with Caroline to understand some of the community concerns and I look forward to building on the strong links that already exist”.
