Local MP Caroline Dinenage will welcome former government minister, Lord Heseltine, to Gosport tomorrow to see how local growth is being achieved in her constituency and the wider area.
Lord Heseltine published a report on local growth for the Government last year and since then, a number of his recommendations have been acted on in the South.
Tomorrow, Lord Heseltine will join Caroline at an event being run by Education Business Partnership to hear how students and business people have benefited from his recommendation to promote greater integration between schools and local businesses. His visit will also encompass the Solent Growth Summit which is taking place at Botleigh Grange Hotel later on in the day.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Caroline said:
"Encouraging young people to engage with businesses is essential to getting them enthusiastic about entrepreneurism. I am proud that this is already happening in our region and am confident that more schools and businesses will be inspired to forge linkages in the future.
I hope that Lord Heseltine is looking forward to meeting with business representatives from across the region and speaking to them about the findings of his report during the Growth Summit."
Caroline has long been a champion of business and local growth. As a member of the Business, Skills & Innovation Select Committee as well as a Co-Chair of the APPG on local growth, she is well placed to be accompanying Lord Heseltine on his visit to the Solent area tomorrow.
