Local MP Caroline Dinenage will welcome the Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin MP, to the Gosport peninsula next week.
As part of her long-running commitment to secure a meaningful solution to the congestion issues on local roads, Caroline will show the Transport Secretary first-hand the problems that motorists have to endure on a daily basis. She will also introduce him to key local officials in order to discuss potential solutions, such as a Stubbington Bypass.
The visit will also give Caroline the opportunity to show the Secretary of State the successful Network Rail apprentice training programme at HMS Sultan, as well as the expanding Maritime and Coastguard Agency base at Daedalus.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Caroline said:
"The transport infrastructure is such a major issue in our area and I've worked hard since my election to raise this with my ministerial colleagues.
I'm delighted that the Secretary of State has accepted my invitation to visit Gosport, it will be really useful for him to see our transport problems up close, along with discussing potential solutions."
Caroline is dedicated to tackling the problem of congestion on the A32 and other access roads. Monday's meeting comes off the back of Transport Minister, Norman Baker's visit to Gosport in March and the £8.5million package to enhance Newgate Lane that Caroline helped to secure.
