Andy was born and raised in Portsmouth where he completed his education at Priory School and Portsmouth College. Having spent a gap year working in the United States, he completed an Honours Degree in Law. Whilst he had intentions of joining the Royal Navy upon graduating, it was his experiences working with young people as a volunteer which led to Andy beginning his career in the voluntary sector working with disadvantaged young people as one of the founding staff at local charity Motiv8.
This included community work alongside delivery of education activities to youths within the Portsmouth and Gosport communities. Andy then pursued his passion for education by moving to Fareham College where he managed the student and learning support services for four years. He undertook a similar role at Eastleigh College before progressing to a senior management position at St Vincent College in 2012 which also saw him teach A-Level Law.
Since then Andy has been instrumental in supporting the sustained improvements in student outcomes and destinations of St Vincent’s pupils, successes which have seen the College ranked in the Top 10% of colleges for student progress each of the past four years for its Vocational provision. After undertaking the role of Head of College on an interim basis, Andy was formally appointed to the role in January 2020. As the proud parent of a 12 year old daughter, Andy recognises the challenges faced by young people in modern society and he is keen to enhance education opportunities for those living in the Gosport and Fareham region. Andy has ambitious plans for St Vincent College as a lead provider of education to young people and adults and he is grateful for the opportunity to promote the College at the Gosport Conservative Club Luncheon.
