Local MP Caroline Dinenage announced the winner of her third annual Christmas Card Design competition at Gosport Discovery Centre on Friday.
Lucie Johnson-Allan, aged 6 from Rowner Infants School was crowned overall winner with her stunning Christmas in London design which has already been printed on cards that Caroline has sent out this month.
This year’s runners Up, whose designs features on the back of the card were, Keira Garrett from Holbrook Primary School, Sophie Thompson from Alverstoke Infants School, Ava Rattley from Gomer Junior School and Travis Underwood from Holbrook Primary School.
This year, due to the number of impressive designs, there was a shortlist of 12 which created Commended and Highly Commended awards. Brett Reynolds-James and Ellie Reynolds-Mustoe both from Holbrook Primary School were awarded highly commended. Caitlin Pogson from Rowner Infants School and George Knight, Owen Johns, Keira Wright and Skyler Scollan all from Holbrook Primary School were awarded commended.
After the announcement Caroline commented:
"This year’s decision was tough due to the amount of fantastic designs so it was fantastic to meet my shortlisted artists in my Christmas card competition – they are all extremely talented with artistic skills, imagination and creativity.
Given the promise they are showing at such young ages I am sure that there are great things in store for these budding artists and I look forward to receiving their entries next year!"
All of the entries will be on display in the Children’s Section of the Discovery Centre until 9 January 2016.
This year's judging panel included Caroline, the Mayor of Gosport Keith Farr, Steve Reid from Blitz Photography and Robin Young from The Gosport Globe.
